Smart Class

The smart classes are a modernized method of education in the Indian education scenario which provides quality education to students by helping them in better concept formation, concept elaboration, improvement in reading skills and academic achievement. The concept of smart classrooms has not only made education interesting but provides a chance to students to enhance their performance.

A smart classroom is to enhance the teaching and learning process for both the teachers and the students by inculcating audio, video, animations, images, multimedia etc. This increases the engagement factor and leads to better-performing students. AMIK provides smart classes with Wi-Fi, projectors, boards etc to enhance modern learning in the students.

Field Work

The fieldwork programme has been designed to achieve the following objectives:

  1. To help students understand the socio-economic, cultural and political milieu and develop capacity for critical examination of causative and maintenance factors of social problems and their consequences.
  2.  To provide students with an opportunity to apply theories in practical situations for problem solving with individuals, groups and communities.
  3.  To help students identify, plan and implement social work interventions through the application of the methods of social work and to assess their impact on different client systems in various specializations.
  4.  To help students appreciate the role of social work profession empowering individuals, groups and communities and in facilitating social change, ensuring
    human rights and social justice.
  5.  To help students develop skills and appropriate personality qualities required for professional social work practice.
  6.  To provide opportunities to accept challenges and respond to them. 
  7.  To understand the nature of social work practice in different specialization.

First Aid Training Programme-(5days)-January 2021 Our 8 social work students successfully completed Bengal Aerotropolis Projects limited 16th April – 23th April 2022 (Passenger profiling survey)

MSW final year students completed their 30 days (October-November2021) internship program from these organizations:

Rural Camp

Objectives of Rural Camp

1. To develop an understanding of the rural social structures and cultural processes with special reference to specific groups experiencing poverty and deprivation
2. To develop an understanding of the level of government intervention in relation to below the poverty line groups in the area and the related structure of decision–making and intervention.
3. To develop the capacity to make a critique of the intervention of both the voluntary organizations and the Government Agencies in relation to the specific groups ( Below the poverty line group).
4. Through experience in group living, appreciate its value in terms of self-development,interpersonal relationships sense of organization, management and mutual responsibility.
5. To acquire skills in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the camp

  Last rural camp (December 2021). Our study tour was from Baghmundi to visit the Ajodhya Hills and Baghmundi dams like Murguma. Baghmundi CD block is bounded by the Jhalda I, Jhalda II and Arsha CD block on the north, the Balarampur CD block on the east, the kukru CD block, in the Seraikela Kharsawan district at Jharkhand, on the south, and the Jhalda I CD block on the west. We stayed at Vivekananda Vikash Kendra, a welfare organization working for the upliftment of tribal community of Baghmundi block.

Our students participated in group work with the children of this organization, and also visited the village of tribal community to distribute some clothes and football..

Study tour

Through study tour the gained lot of experience in various aspects of group living. The students were also exposed to new environment and acquired some knowledge about the cultural aspects and also a vast exposure to the discipline of social work.

Objectives of Study Tours:

  1. To provide an opportunity to the students to experience varied community culture, group dynamics and understand the importance of social relationships.
  2. To be aware of various socio-cultural patterns, value systems and social practices in different parts of the state/ country/world.
  3. To visit various reputed organizations related to their field of specialization and understand and functioning of such successful organizations.
  4.  To build in competencies related to planning, implementation and execution of tasks related to the organizing group travel and accommodation and visit etc.
  5.  To impart training in social work education through purposeful recreation, sightseeing and discussion in different places and atmosphere.

Career

After completing an MSW degree, candidates can work as Healthcare Social Workers, Clinical Social Workers, Therapists or Social Workers in the field of Medical Health, mental health and as faculty, facilitator in educational sector, among other career opportunities. Beside a MSW completed students can pursue job in corporate sector especially in CSR (corporate social responsibility) as CSR manager/officer.

Students passed from AMIK are working in different sectors namely hospital settings, corporate, NGO sector, industry, government projects.

Training

 The Training and Placement Cell (TP cell) organizes training and placement of the students in different national and international organizations like REACH India, PRADAN, ACTION AID INDIA, CINI, SAVE THE CHILDREN, TOMORROW’S FOUNDATION, SHAMAYITA MATH, Dr. REDDY’S FOUNDATION and others. Students have also been placed for training in corporate like Durgapur Projects Limited, Durgapur Chemicals Limited, ESSAR OIL, VIVEKANANDA HOSPITAL, SAIL, EASTERN COALFIELDS LTD, BENGAL AEROTROPOLIS, Mother Diary, Kolkata, Tata Metaliks etc. Usually students get employed before completion of their course.

TP Cell keeps in touch with various developmental organizations and corporate throughout the year  .It invites eminent personalities from different fields for interaction with the students.

The Cell has conducted seminars, Buyers -Seller’s meet, training for SHG group members in association with the National Small Industries Corporation, Engineering Export Promotion   Council, National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development, DIC, Durgapur etc. A list of activities is as follows:

  1. 60 days skill based Entrepreneurship Development Program jointly with P.C.Roy Institute of Entrepreneurship Studies and DIC, Durgapur.
  2. Awareness and Leadership Programme, sponsored by NABARD.
  3. Buyers-Sellers meet for handicrafts sponsored by NSIC.
  4. Awareness programme by NSIC.
  5. EDP sponsored by MSME-DI, Durgapur.
  6. Export awareness programme sponsored by Engineering Experts Promotion Council, Eastern Region, Kolkata.
  7. 10 days motivation camp for local youth by Nehru Yuba Kendra.
  8. Awareness programme on CGIS scheme sponsored by Webcon.
  9. Orientation programme for existing entrepreneurs by Webcon.

Library

Libraries are generally located on college and university campuses and primarily serve the students and faculty of that and other academic institutions. Library within the campus of AMIK provides plenty of information related to social work through text books, reference books, journals, reports, encyclopedias , magazines etc . It also includes books on business administration, women studies, marketing, and story books for students to enhance their knowledge.
